What is a gite?
A gite is a French
holiday cottage.
How far is the gite from the airports, are directions provided?
It is about an hour from both Bordeaux and Bergerac airports, directions
will be sent upon confirmation of booking.
Is a hairdryer provided?
Yes, one is provided in the double bedroom.
Is there a washing
machine?
Yes.
Is there an iron?
Yes and ironing board.
Is there a swimming
pool?
Yes, a new one.
Do I need to bring linen and towels?
No these are provided.
What is provided in the
kitchen?
Cooker, fridge freezer, kettle, toaster, microwave, crockery, cutlery,
pots, pans, tea towels, ice cube trays, bottle opener, etc.
What else is provided in
the gite?
TV (with English channels), DVD/DIVX player, CD player (plays mp3 cds),
games, table tennis table, maps and books.
Are travel cots provided?
Yes, a travel cot, highchair and basic pushchair can be provided at no
extra charge, please enquire when booking.
Is there a phone in the gite?
No, please bring your mobile with you if you need to stay in touch.
Are pets allowed?
Unfortunately we do not allow pets.
Is smoking allowed in
the house?
No, smoking is not permitted inside the house; we would ask that if you
smoke, you do so outside - there is a sheltered balcony outside.
Where do I pick up the keys?
You will be met at the gite by one of the management team who will provide
keys. If you think that you will be late arriving please inform us and we
can make other arrangements (local contact details will be provided closer
to time of departure, upon final payment).
When is changeover day
and what are the
check-in and check-out times?
Changeover day is usually on a Saturday with arrivals from 4pm and
departures by 10am - depending on other bookings and availability there
may be flexibility, please check when enquiring.
Is local information provided?
There is an information folder with things to do,
useful numbers and the general run of the gite.
How far is it to the local chateau, shop, restaurant, lake?
Chateau Haut-Meillac is located in Gours and is within walking distance
(15-ish minutes) or is a few minutes by car.
There is a small shop in neighbouring village Puynormand (5-10 minute drive) which sells fresh baked goods, snacks and
drinks and some toiletries; there is also a supermarket (Super U) in St
Seurin (10-ish minute drive). There is a man made beach at a lake in Villefranche
(5-10 minute drive). There's a
good quality and good value restaurant (La Grillade) in St Seurin (10-15
minute drive).
Is a deposit required for the booking?
Yes, a 25% non-refundable deposit is required to secure the booking.
The remaining balance must either be paid in Pounds Sterling one month
before departure or in Euros upon arrival at the gite. Please advise
of method of final payment when booking - if paying in Euros the
outstanding cost will be confirmed based on the current exchange rate a
few days before your arrival at the gite.
Please note that a separate security deposit of £100 or
€150 on arrival at the
gite will be required to cover any breakages, damages or the loss of any
items during your stay and for any extra cleaning deemed necessary to put
the holiday accommodation back to an acceptable condition - this deposit
is fully refundable provided the gite is left in the condition it is found
in.
What payment methods are accepted?
Cheques or cash please.
