Gours is a small village situated just outside the market town of St
Seurin sur l'Isle in the Aquitaine region of the south-west of France,
home to some of the most famous wines such as Médoc, Pomerol, St Emilion,
and dessert wine Sauternes, not forgetting foie gras, armagnac and
truffles. The city of Bordeaux is the region's capital and is
approximately an hour away. There is plenty to do in and around Gours and
surrounding area, making it suitable for families, couples, a group of
friends or individuals seeking a break.
The gite (holiday cottage) available for hire is a traditional French cottage set in
approximately 1.5 acres of land with 3 bedrooms sleeping up to 6 people,
with a new swimming pool -
more information and pictures can be found on the
Gite
page.
Bordeaux (Mérignac) aiport is approximately 65km from Gours and Bergerac (Roumanières)
airport is approximately 55km from Gours with a choice of airlines and car
rental companies servicing the airports - see the
Links page for websites.
There is a train station in nearby St Seurin sur l'Isle, although a
car will be needed for travel from St Seurin sur l'Isle to Gours and to
get around.
Another option is to drive your own car, Gours is approximately a day's
drive from Calais, or there are ferries to and from St Malo.
